My roommates and I went to the Tetons last week, and I was able to get some decent pictures, even though it was dark and in the shadows most the time. We didn’t get there until about 5 P.M, so everything was in the shadows. We hiked up the “Lupin Meadows” trail for a little hike, and to try to get some photos. The purple flowers were at the beginning of the trail, and the bridge was almost where we turned around. In editing them, I just played with it in camera raw, changing the tone curve, and adding exposure to that it would lighten up a little bit. The last photo is at Jenny Lake, and I really like the way that it turned out, even though the sky was really exposed. The sun was almost behind the Tetons that are just out of the picture on the left, so everything that way was really exposed.
I entered a online contest where the theme was “Rule of Thirds.” It was on a site called “ViewBug” that has tons of different photo contests. I was going to enter the “Wildlife” contest, but in the coin toss, I choose to enter this one. The site looks like a fun site full of all different kinds of contests on all different subjects. Currently, I think it said that there were 35 open contests, and they all have a prize attached. These contests are a great way of getting your pictures out for others to see.
I submitted the pictures on July 5th, 2012.
