7 Habits Website Drafts
What a week this has been! I’m super far behind, but I also had my computer die on Saturday, right when I was starting to buckle down and get my work done for this class…. So I know I don’t have near enough done, but between trying to do research on my phone/super old Ipad (like, 1st or 2nd generation… It won’t even play youtube….), and doing design on my roommates computer after she goes to bed/before she wakes up (with permission of course!), it’s been a little crazy. But, here is what I’ve got:)
This week I mostly focused on how I was going to design my website. I meant to get it started so I could have a working mock-up, but right now I just have some wireframes still. I stayed mostly with the same theme as last week, with a couple changes. I did do some more research, trying to find some Qualitative statistics to turn into graphs. Turns out, it’s hard to put a stat on how much group work helps you succeed, or listening to the teacher and taking notes, etc. You get the picture. So unfortunately, I didn’t get a lot more of that done. I did read some more of the 7 Habits for Highly Effective Teens, and went through some of the activity guide, and I pondered what I wanted to do a lot. However, like usual, it seems my ideas won’t come until the last minute…. Hopefully I will be able to get more this next week!
As far as my wireframe goes, I started with adding in the other Habits (I think I only had 1-3 in last time), as well as a section just below the good focuses of the habit featuring the opposites. The book has a lot of examples, and illustrates a lot of different points on contrasting the good habits from the bad, so I wanted to do some of that. The information will be taken both from the book as well as other examples from research articles and survey results. I do have a survey almost ready to submit for approval to send out to a group of the student body to gather some primary data. So I’m pretty excited about that:)
After that, I started trying to add colors. I still don’t like the way these are working together yet. Mostly because I feel like red is a universal color representing bad, stop, or don’t follow. But it is also the color that will catch the attention between the two. So I haven’t quite solved that yet. Right now, the information in the red is about the habit we should be doing, and the blue is what we should avoid. But like I said, I’m still playing with it! The two graphs/charts I added are the comparisons table between good and bad habits, as well as the “jar” full of rocks next to the “Put First Things First” section. I am also playing around with the glasses for the “Paradigm” section. There will be text there as well, but I made these as I was being kicked out of the library to get to FHE tonight.
Well, that’s it for this week. Sorry I don’t have more to present, I will try and catch up next week! Any feedback would be awesome! Also, if you have any ideas on the types of data I should look at gathering, that would be helpful as well. The 7 habits I am trying to base the data on are:
- Be Proactive (Take control of your life)
- Begin With the End in Mind (Have goals and go for them!)
- Put First Things First (Prioritize carefully)
- Think Win-Win (Find ways for everyone to win)
- Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood (Take the time to listen)
- Synergize (Work together)
- Sharpen the Saw (take the time to keep learning)
